Looking back, I went off the rails by drinking far more than was good for me.
I still attended church on occasions and still considered myself to be a Christian.
I met Alan on a night out at the local pub (he was still playing in his band at this time).
I arranged to meet him again a few days later and he told me he was a born again Christian.
He explained to me how I too could have a relationship with Jesus (which was something I hadn’t heard previously).
He invited me to the church that he attended, Newbold Baptist Church, and I realised from the moment
I walked in that there was something different about the people there.
I now realise that the difference was Jesus. After attending for a few weeks I made the decision to ask Jesus
into my life and I haven’t looked back since. That was in 1992 and I dread to think where I would be today
if I hadn’t made that commitment to Jesus. I just thank Him for dying on the Cross so that I could have a new life in Him.
I always enjoyed poetry at school and I hope that the poems
I write now will speak to someone who needs Jesus in their life just as I did.
